JEE Mains 2019 is being conducted in two phases by NTA. The phase 1 was over in January and phase 2 will be in April. The application form will be available from 8th February 2019. The applicants can fill the online form on the official website of NTA (nta.ac.in OR jeemain.nic.in).

JEE Mains Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for JEE Mains, the aspirant must fulfill some basic criteria for appearing this exam. The eligibility criteria for JEE Mains 2019 is as follows:

There is no age limit for the candidates appearing the exam

All candidates who have cleared XII exams or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2017, 2018 or appearing in 2019 are eligible.

Students who passed class XII or any qualifying examination in 2016 or before and those who will appear in any such examination in 2020 or after that are not eligible to appear in JEE Mains 2019.

Candidate must have taken at least 5 subjects in XII exams or any qualifying examination in order to be eligible for JEE Mains. If the candidate provides false information regarding the previous examination, their rank will not be declared.

Registration Process

Steps for filling the JEE Mains online application form:

Step 1 – Sign up on the NTA official website. For this click on the “Apply for JEE Main” button and read all the instructions stated there and if you agree then click on “Proceed to Apply Online”.

Step 2 – A form will be there with the following fields – Name, DOB, mobile number and email ID. The candidate needs to all the authentic details accurately and then submit it. On completing this stage, the aspirant will receive an email that will have their user ID and password on their registered email address. They will also receive a registration confirmation message on their registered mobile number.

Step 3 – Once the candidates get the user ID and password, they need to log in with that and fill in all their details such as name, personal details, academic information and more. Then click on Next button.

Step 4 – The next step is uploading the scanned documents. Candidates need to upload all the required documents as per the given format.

The format for the image – Scan a passport size recent photograph of size 10KB to 200KB with dimension3.5 cm x 4.5 cm, the format can be JPEG or JPG.

Signature – Uploading candidate’s signature of size 4KB to 30KB, dimension 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm, the format can be JPEG or JPG.

Step 5 – After filling all the necessary details and uploading the documents, check everything once again and then proceed to the fees payment option. Candidates need to select their preferred examination city, center and the exam date. The JEE Mains application fees are as follows:

Step 6 – Finally, take the printout of the completed registration form and the receipt generated after payment for future reference.

Exam Pattern

JEE Mains is divided into two parts –

Paper 1 – B.Tech / B.E
Paper 2 – B.Arch

The paper pattern for both the papers if different. As specified, students opting for engineering needs to take paper1 and architecture students should take paper 2. Let’s take a look at the important point for each paper

Paper 1 – Important Information

  • Courses: Paper 1 for engineering courses, i.e., B.E or B.Tech
  • of questions:  90 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
  • Subjects: Questions with being from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  • Paper Languages: Hindi, Gujarati or English (While filling the application, candidates can select their preferred language option)
  • Mode of examination:  Computer Based Test.
  • Duration of examination: 3 hours (4 hours for aspirants having 40% or more disability).
  • Marking Scheme: 4 marks for each correct answer.
  • Negative Marking: For each incorrect answer 1 mark will be deducted

  • Courses: Paper 2 is for architecture course, i.e., B.Arch.

  • Paper Languages: Hindi or English(While filling the application, candidates can select their preferred language option)
  • Mode of examination:  Computer Based Test.
  • Duration of examination: 3 hours (4 hours for aspirants having 40% or more disability).
  • Marking Scheme: 4 marks for each correct answer.
  • Negative Marking: For each incorrect answer 1 mark will be deducted.

Important information

The following is the details for April examination:

Note:

  • It is compulsory for all candidates to carry their admit card as well as other specified documents in the examination hall.
  • Candidate without admit card will not be permitted in the center under any circumstances.
  • Candidates should reach 15 minutes ahead of the exam time and take their seats as the examination hall opens. They need to log-in and read all exam related instructions carefully.
  • Stationary such as pen, pencil, the blank paper will be provided in the center. Candidates should write their roll number and name at the top of their blank sheer and this sheet has to be returned to the invigilator after the exam.
  • For Paper 2 aptitude test, the candidate should bring their own pencil, erasers, geometry set, color pencils etc.
  • For Drawing paper, candidates are not allowed to use watercolors on the drawing sheet.

JEE Mains is a very crucial examination in the career of the candidates. It requires a huge amount of preparation.
