NEET – National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (formerly known as AIPMT) is the only national level entrance exam to secure an admission into any of the top medical or dental colleges across India.

Many of you are gearing up for the NEET 2019 examination scheduled on May 5 this year. In such a scenario, it is important for all medical aspirants to prepare for NEET 2019 effectively with a hope to crack it.

Most of you must have been focusing on your NEET preparation throughout the year.  Now it is the time to revise and re-revise the syllabus as much as possible.

Given below are few tips for preparation of NEET that might help you.

Tips to make notes for NEET for revision

  1. Make a time-table for yourself

Allocate yourself four slots of 2.5 – 3 hours each through the day with atleast anhour long break between each slot. Dedicate a slot to each subject – Physics, Biology and Chemistry. At least one of the time slots should be used to solve previous year’s NEET papers or mock tests. The morning slot should be used to prepare for the most difficult subject. It is important to study all three subjects every day so that no subject’s syllabus is left behind.

  1. Write down your mistakes

When you solve mock tests, you will be making a lot of mistakes that you might or might not be repeating. Use a fresh book and note down these mistakes that you are repeatedly making. Go through this book weekly. This will always remind you of what mistakes you have made previously and you will not repeat them henceforth.

  1. Prepare notes during self-study

It is extremely vital to make notes while studying. This habit will help you revise quickly and efficiently just days before the NEET 2019 examination. It is the only hope to cover the vast syllabus and revise it thoroughly without having to read and re-read huge textbooks.

Given below are few tips for preparation of NEET notes.

    • Use your own words

Notes are of less importance if they are written in the exact textbook language without any simplification. It is important that you eliminate the extra and repetitive topics and focus on crucial topics and content. Also, avoid the complex language and try to use simpler terms as far as possible. You must write your notes in a language that you would easily understand. Many people have the habit of using a friend’s notes, but it is always advised to write your own notes as it is simpler to understand during revision.

    • Use multi colored pens

You can dedicate a color to everything in your notes. For example, Green can be used for main headings and sub headings. Red can be used to mark the topic as important. Highlight the keywords of a pointer using yellow highlighter in every sentence. This helps you remember the entire pointer with the help of just keywords.

    • Use abbreviations wherever possible

It is very difficult to remember the entire syllabus without shortcuts and abbreviations. Try to make code words or abbreviations so that you can relate to them and remember them well. For example, the sentence “My Very Educated Mother Just Showed Us Nine Planets” is still used to remember all 9 planets along with their position in our solar system.

    • Note your doubts

It is very likely that you may have several doubts during self-study. Don’t let these doubts stop you or hinder your study time. Instead, make a note or circle these topics. Get these doubts cleared by your teacher, tutor or friend at the next opportunity.

    • Revising your notes

It is not sufficient to just prepare notes without memorizing and understanding them. Make sure you keep revising your notes as you study and not wait until you have prepared notes for the entire syllabus. Ideally, you should revise all your notes every week to keep a good pace.

  1. Get proper sleep

It is common to get anxious few weeks before an important exam. But sleep plays a crucial role in adding to your mental presence and smartness. It is important to study for 10-12 hours in a day but equally important to get proper sleep in the night. NEET preparation usually involves solving a lot of Physics and Chemistry numerical problems. If you don’t have a fresh mind while solving them, it can cost you a negative mark.

  1. Accuracy is important

While appearing for the exam do not attempt to solve all 180 questions in haste as your accuracy is crucial in NEET preparation. It is important that whichever questions you have solved turn out to be correct. Every wrong answer fetches you a negative mark, which can have a bad impact on your NEET 2019 examination score.
